As of yesterday, I've had this Live Journal for twenty years. Time flies.

A 4.8 earthquake shook the Tri-state area this morning. Sam and Devon live in Brooklyn. They definitely felt the quake. Californians can laugh at us East Coast folks all they want about our reactions, but we do feel quakes more and in a wider area. The 5.8 central Virginia quake in 2011 was felt in Boston and Charleston, South Carolina. The quakes ( Read more... )

Matthew Perry just died. He was only 54, two years older than me. I was only a casual watcher of Friends, but I always liked Chandler. He had a really tough time with his alcohol and drug addictions and overcoming them. He apparently drowned in a hot tub. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a heart attack and drowned before he could get help. ( Read more... )

Well, until today. A United 777 took off from Denver International Airport this afternoon, and an engine exploded. Debris fell in a Broomfield neighborhood about a mile east from my high school! Incredibly, no one on the ground was injured, and the plane made a safe emergency landing back at DIA ( Read more... )
